Documents You Need Before Requesting a Business Loan

A well-organised document pack is the single biggest factor in how quickly a loan request moves. Here is what to prepare, how to format it, and how we protect it.

Preparation shortens the timeline

In our experience, the difference between a nine-week and a sixteen-week financing is rarely the credit itself. It is usually the time spent chasing documents. Preparing your pack before you submit lets our bankers begin their analysis on day one.

The essential pack

  • Audited financial statements for the last three financial years
  • Year-to-date management accounts
  • A current debt schedule listing lenders, facility types, balances and maturities
  • Certificate of incorporation and articles of association
  • Shareholder register and group structure chart
  • Identification of ultimate beneficial owners holding 25% or more
  • A business plan or financial projections covering the loan term

Facility-specific documents

  • Acquisition finance: the target's financial statements and a summary of the transaction terms
  • Real estate finance: independent valuation reports, title documents and any pre-sale or lease agreements
  • Trade finance or working capital: aged receivables and payables reports and key customer contracts
  • Project finance: feasibility study, budget, construction contracts and offtake agreements
  • Refinancing: existing facility agreements and recent lender statements

Upload requirements

Our loan request accepts supporting documents in PDF format only, up to 50 MB per file and up to five files. If you have more material, combine related documents into a single PDF, for example all three years of accounts in one file. Our team will request anything further during due diligence.

How your documents are protected

Every uploaded file is checked to confirm it is a genuine PDF, and document metadata such as author names and editing history is removed automatically. Files are then stored privately and can only be opened through time-limited signed links by authorised staff.

Tips for a clean pack

  • Name files clearly, for example Company_Audited_Accounts_2023-2025.pdf
  • Make sure scanned pages are legible and the right way up
  • Include the auditor's opinion, not only the financial tables
  • Present all figures in the loan request in USD, and state the conversion rate used if your accounts are in another currency
